In the world of electrified SUVs, Audi is revving up the game with its 2025 Audi SQ6 e-tron. If you’re searching for an all-electric vehicle that combines style, power, and innovation, you’re in for a treat. Join us as we take a deep dive into this electric marvel that’s set to electrify the roads in 2024.
A Peppy Addition to the Audi Lineup
The 2025 Audi SQ6 e-tron is the high-performance sibling of the mass-market Q6 e-tron. Both these SUVs share the same platform and come with standard all-wheel drive, making them a formidable duo on the road. However, the SQ6 takes it a step further, boasting a dual-motor system that can produce an impressive 509 horsepower in Boost mode, or 482 horsepower during regular use.
The Q6 e-tron, while no slouch, lags behind in terms of power, and this added athleticism comes with its own trade-offs, which we’ll delve into shortly. One striking feature is that both models are available in both boxy SUV and sportier Sportback versions, with the latter featuring a more aggressively slanted roof, adding a touch of style to the power.
Power Meets Efficiency
Underneath the sleek exterior, the SQ6 e-tron boasts an 800-volt architecture, promising rapid DC fast-charging speeds. This is a game-changer in the electric vehicle world, ensuring that you spend less time charging and more time on the road.
What’s New for 2025?
As we look ahead to 2025, the Audi SQ6 e-tron makes its grand entrance as a new addition to the German automaker’s all-electric lineup. While Audi has been tight-lipped about the pricing, it’s clear that the SQ6 will position itself as a premium offering. We expect it to offer trim levels similar to Audi’s current gas-powered SUVs, including Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige equipment groups. In addition, you can choose between a conventional SUV and the more stylish Sportback version.
Performance That Thrills
The Audi SQ6 e-tron picks up where the Q6 e-tron leaves off. While the Q6 offers 395 horsepower, the SQ6 takes it up a notch, boasting an estimated 482 horsepower. However, there’s a secret weapon under the hood – the Boost mode, which can unleash a staggering 509 horsepower for short bursts. We haven’t had the chance to drive the production model yet, but based on our experience with the prototype, it’s a well-mannered SUV, much like the family-friendly Q6. However, the production-ready SQ6 is expected to have a more aggressive edge, sacrificing a bit of driving range for a thrilling driving experience. Audi claims that it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest SUVs on the market.
The Power of Fast Charging
The SQ6 e-tron is built on Audi and Porsche’s 800-volt architecture. It packs a 93.0-kWh battery that can charge at an astounding rate of 270 kW. This means you can go from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in under 30 minutes. While we don’t have exact EPA estimates for range, the European WLTP test cycle suggests that the Q6 e-tron can cover about 372 miles. Applying some napkin math, we can estimate that the SQ6 e-tron will offer around 315 miles of range. However, it’s crucial to remember that the SQ6’s performance-oriented design may reduce its range compared to the Q6.
